Laurence Earl Franklin, age 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.
Born on September 13, 1954, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, Laurence was the beloved son
of the late David and Shirley Franklin. He spent his early years in Sulphur Springs
before relocating to Irving, Texas, in the late 1980s, where he became an active and

sports.
Laurence was a man of strong faith and a devoted member of Rocky Spring Missionary
Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Clarence Johnson, Jr. His love for
working with his hands was evident throughout his career as an HVAC technician and in
his passion for remodeling homes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Steven Earl Franklin of Dallas; his bonus son,
Lonzra Alsobrooks of Plano; his brother, Claude David Franklin (Michelle) of Sulphur
Springs; three sisters, Mary Franklin-Taylor of Richardson, Vanessa Heggins (Jerry) of
Wylie, and Theresa Franklin of Richardson; and his cherished granddaughter, Ariana
Franklin. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and
friends.
Laurence is preceded in death by his parents, David and Shirley Franklin, and his
brother, Rickey Oneal Smith.
Laurence will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to his family, craftsmanship,
and the many lives he touched through his work and his service to others. His legacy of
love, hard work, and community spirit will live on in all who knew and loved him.
