Missionary Frances McCrary Obituary

Missionary Frances C. McCrary was born on March 14, 1938, in Hillsboro, Texas, to
Maggie Lee Crosby (Hillsboro, Texas) and Lemuel Charles Crosby (Taylor, Texas). She
graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She also attended University of
Houston and graduated with a degree in accounting. After completing her schooling
and giving her life to Christ at an early age, God gave her a far greater and higher
calling on her life other than being a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother or
even being a wife. She kept the younger ones while our mother and father traveled the
highways late in the night evangelizing in the Northeast Texas Jurisdiction. Little did
she know that it all was a preparation for her to follow the same path.

Frances to some, granny to others, Mother Frances to many, spent her life until her
passing Loving God, his people and all who came to know. She never met a stranger.
God called her to Missionary field work long before she obtained her license to become
a Missionary. She was a tither to St Paul AME church under the leadership of Dr.
McCormick, and a tither to Faith Kingdom COGIC under the leadership of Supt. Charles
Craig faithfully until her declining health. We can witness this one thing, she was a
preacher’s friend and loved Faith Kingdom church. As a sister and co-laborer of the
Gospel, we say Rest Well my sister, rest well. We all shall see you on the other side!
For the bible tells us that the saints will gain rest from their labor and the work that they
do will follow them.

She leaves to mourn in her passing two sons, Lawrence, Celvin; and one daughter,
Twyla Hopkins; her adopted daughter, Gwen Terrell. She also leaves to mourn her
stepchildren, James, Jr., Anthony, David McCrary, and Beverly Oderbert. Mother
Frances leaves one sister, Gloria Whitfield; and one stepsister, Ruby Jeane; three
brothers, Tommy, Charles, and Bobby Crosby. Mother Frances also leaves thirty-eight
grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren and including a host of nieces and
nephews.

Preceding in her death three sisters, Martha, Leola, and Faye Doris. One brother,
Larry Crosby; six stepsisters, Jewel, Ruthie, Ollie Joe, Vertlee, Billy Frances and Rita.
Three grandchildren, Cedric, Raquel and Lil Mark; and her late husband and former
husband, James McCrary and James Hopkins, Jr.
