Faye Dean Epting Moore, the eldest of twin daughters born to Preston Epting and Jessie Mae Lewis-Epting, graced this world on March 31, 1942, in the close-knit St. Luke community of Sulphur Springs, Texas. From her earliest days, Faye Dean embodied grace, strength, and a quiet resilience that would define her life. A proud graduate of Douglas High School, she carried the values of education, dignity, and service into every chapter of her journey.
Faye Dean was a stellar athlete who excelled in basketball, track, and baseball. Her remarkable talent and determination earned her a scholarship to run track in college—a testament to her discipline, drive, and competitive spirit. Whether on the court, the field, or the track, she was a force to be reckoned with. Faye was also a passionate sports fan. She adored Tiger Woods and followed his golfing career with admiration and pride. She was an avid supporter of the Texas Rangers, cheering them on through every season with unwavering loyalty. Aunt Faye was known for her love of dominoes. She relished the thrill of the game, always on the lookout for her next “victim” and never shy about talking plenty of trash. Her playful competitiveness and infectious laughter made every match memorable.
She accepted Christ at a tender age and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church, laying the foundation for a life steeped in faith. In the early 1950s, the Epting family relocated to the North Caney community and joined Cherry Grove Missionary Baptist Church—a spiritual home where Faye Dean would serve with unwavering devotion for over seven decades. Her leadership and love were felt in every corner of the church, where she held numerous roles: Superintendent of Sunday School, Love Offering Treasurer, President of the Senior Usher Board, Mission President, Church Mother, Chairperson of Women’s Bible Study, and Sunday School Assistant Teacher. Her commitment to Cherry Grove was profound, and her love for her pastor and first lady, Rev. Phillip and Sis. Crystal Harrison, was deeply rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose.
In 1965, Faye Dean married her soulmate, James Elvis Moore. Their union was blessed with one cherished daughter, Antionette Moore, who remained the joy of her heart. Faye Dean’s devotion to her family was matched only by her dedication to her work. She served faithfully at Rockwell International—later known as Flowserve—for 35 years, navigating corporate transitions with loyalty and grace until her well-earned retirement.
On August 8, 2025, Mother Faye Dean Moore peacefully transitioned into eternal rest, reunited with her beloved husband, parents, twin sister Mae Dean Sims, sisters Pearlie Neal and sister-in-law Vivian Epting, niece Tatia Epting, and nephew Rodrick Vaden. Though her physical presence has departed, her legacy endures.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Antionette Moore; siblings Walter Epting, Narene Vaden, Joyce “Dave” Young, and Darial “Cheryle” Epting; sister-in-law Clarine Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever carry her memory.
Mother Faye Dean Moore will be remembered as a pillar of strength, a beacon of kindness, and a woman of unshakable faith. Her generosity knew no bounds, her wisdom was freely given, and her love was a constant source of comfort. She lived a life of purpose, and the imprint she leaves on our hearts will never fade.
