Van Harrison Obituary

Van was born on March 30, 1951, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to the late Vandolor and Queenie Ruth Harrison. He received his early education at Douglas School and graduated in 1969.

Van was a man of faith who believed in God and lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, and generosity. Gifted with his hands, he possessed an extraordinary ability to build, repair, and create almost anything he set his mind to. Whether working on a project or helping someone in need, Van was always willing to lend a hand.

One of Van’s greatest joys was gardening. He loved planting and growing vegetables and took immense pride in sharing his harvest with family, friends, and neighbors. His garden was more than a hobby- it was an expression of his caring spirit and his desire to bless others.

On February 27, 1981, Van was united in marriage to Sharon Mason. To this union, two daughters were born, Sherika Harrison and Yolanda Harrison.

Van leaves to cherish his memory his children: Tammie Dial (Derick), Sonja Rush, Yolanda Harrison, and Justin Leggett; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven siblings: Walter Harrison (Gloria), William Harrison, Kerry Harrison, Roberta Hill, Carmelita Vaughn (Jerry), Rita Roberson, and Linda Bell. He also leaves behind a special friend, Theresa Clark, who faithfully remained by his side until his passing, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vandolor and Queenie Ruth Harrison; his beloved daughter, Sherika Harrison; and eight siblings.

Although Van has departed this earthly life, his legacy of faith, diligence, generosity, and love will continue to flourish in the lives of those he touched. His warm spirit, helping hands, and loving heart will never be forgotten. His memory will remain forever planted in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
-Matthew 25:23 (KJV)
